Wahu Kaara, Kenya

Wahu Kaara is the former Ecumenical Coordinator for the United Nations Millennium Development Goals. She is a renowned Kenyan social activist and founding coordinator of the Kenyan debt relief network. One of the 1000 Women 2005 Nobel Peace Prize nominees, Kaara has worked tirelessly through words and actions to stand on the side of those who suffer injustice, with special attention to the people of Africa. Wahu Kaara has mobilized and supported the efforts of women and believes deeply in the positive impact women can have on power and global politics in the world. She was the Dame Nita Barrow fellow at the University of Toronto in 2008.
